What Philosophy Really Means
You've probably heard someone being called "pilosopo" when they're being argumentative or trying to sound smart, right? While that's one way Filipinos use the term, philosophy actually has three main meanings that go way deeper.
First, philosophy refers to the beliefs, views, and principles that individuals or groups hold about life. Think of it as your personal worldview - how you see reality, what you value, and what guides your decisions.
Second, it's the activity of reasoning itself. When you're trying to logic your way through a problem or question why things are the way they are, you're actually doing philosophy! Our Filipino concept of "namimilosopo" captures this idea of engaging in deep reasoning.
Remember: Philosophy isn't just abstract thinking - it's become part of our everyday lives whenever we question, reason, or form beliefs about the world around us.
